According to the instructions provided by Apple to developers, the fourth beta version of iOS 17.4 released by Apple adds new CarPlay features.

Volvo S60 on Apple CarPlay Maps
Among the supported "CarPlay" vehicles, there is now an Apple Maps option that displays information about upcoming actions in the dashboard. CarPlay users will be able to swap display types between the main dashboard and the dashboard by tapping the map configuration button located in the top right corner of the main map screen
Apple unveiled a new next-generation "CarPlay" experience this year, which will appear in high-end vehicles starting in 2024, but the addition of this feature is different
It looks like this new experience will be available in vehicles that support the dual-screen Liguo Maps CarPlay experience, with a complementary "Apple Maps" view in the driver's display or head-up display. CarPlay started supporting this feature a few years ago, but manufacturers have been slow to adopt it, with BMW, Volvo, and Polestar being the first to adopt it on select vehicles.
While these vehicles support the Apple Maps view in the driver's display, they don't show text prompts, such as upcoming turns or lane guidance, so today's addition seems to give users some control over where the information appears.
In the iOS 17.4 update, the driver's display will selectively display turn-by-turn navigation so that CarPlay users can navigate without taking their eyes off the display directly in front of them
iOS 17.4 is currently only available to developers and public beta testers, but will be released publicly in March
